Well, angular is a complete rewrite of angular js, and its also newer and improves almost every year. We are up to angular 7 now. But don't worry angular 2 - 7 are the same framework. So if you want to learn angular 5, you will only be mission out on the improvements.

With that said my guess would be to go with the more modern angular 5.
