Is it a good idea to undertake more than 1coding class/language?
Especially when they are marginally unrelated.

generally, I'd say it's better to only learn one language at a time so you master it. and if you do learn another, it's better for it to be really different so you can learn new things, instead of the same thing but with different syntax.

I did courses for XP. To be honest, you really need to just focus on what you're planning to master in the future. If you are into front-end web development, what's the point of learning Python or C++? You will end up with incorrect syntaxes and keywords. I suggest you don't confuse yourself with so many languages first.

I second @cheeze but sometimes learning more than one language helps to get more understanding. For instance, when I first started JavaScript I was totally confused and felt so difficult to grasp. So I switched to Python and even did quite lots of projects in Django framework which also got messy along the way. Until I dived into Ruby and now I am back on JavaScript with less to no difficulties.
So it's good to learn many languages but Master one in the end. And to me JavaScript is the future Language.. "One Language for Front and Backend"
