End tags in HTML

what happens if end tags is not given ?
like <\p> is not given to any paragraph end?

Not all the times... behaviour have great probabilities to break the page layout, and some elements can disappears, depending on context ( try to not close a </td> inside others, or a table element in general, and you will be disapointed ), as browsers attempts to correct malformed html code, but can't make miracles :P
