What is the best os for programmers

Question

I’m gonnna buy a laptop for programing. Should I buy macbook or a windows laptop? I expect answers based on experiences on ‘programing’.

I use windows and Linux.

I would make sure my laptop has 8gb ram or more.

Many programmers recommended Linux, but I've done well with Windows.

Arsenic Windows has command prompt.
Aren't command prompt and terminal practically the same thing?

Windows XP was the best! I am NOT recommending windows 10 - too much security things in it, so if you are developing a smart card related software, like I am doing just now, you will have to run your visual studio as administrator to be able to debug it :(

If you want portability and long battery and appealing GUI then go for Mac
Otherwise go for Linux
In windows you would be missing a great application and that is TERMINAL which is there in Linux and MAC.
