For game development, many people suggest many languages. C++, python, java etc are used usually. You may be acquainted with .jar or .jad java games we used to play in the late 2000 when smart phone was not available. Again, you may know about minecraft which is coded in c++ and also have a java version. I recently saw a code of minecraft in github with python(It required only 800 lines where c++ edition required 2200 lines),

The main fact is, it varies from game to game device to device.
