Learning to make games but don’t know what sprite means

Can someone please explain this as simply as possible and with as much information because google is too confusing thank you 🙏🏻

A sprite is a character. I am in primary school and I mainly use Scratch. On Scratch every character is a sprite. I assume that is the same with all things.

Computer graphic which may be moved on-screen and otherwise manipulated as a single entity.

Collection of image making one group which can be used to process and make characters animating or still .
I use to think this . Hope to find better answer here too.
