What are the areas of study recommended for all around web design for local businesses that I could potentially work for?

I’ve done html and css so far and starting JS

Jquery ,bootstrap,sql , php or lern js further to use it as a server side language (node.js) and get familiar with JSON and AJAX technologies, learn to work with APIs if u wish to pull information from public apis ,ex; product prices. plus if you want to build a shopping cart or something similar , lern a framework like laravel that will save a lot of time and effort.

I cheat :D
I look at other people's cases/websites like this https://webcapitan.com/cases/gladiatorboost/ one and steal parts of the design.
Also, I got better at web design by going on Dribbble.com and studying what I thought looked good. It took me years of practice and but I'm super happy with the design results of my newest project.
