What happens to challenges when a call comes in or is otherwise interrupted?

Hope we're all reading from the same Android format here? I'm working on a real time protocol and because nobody rings very often I'm worried about how to make it fair in such instances (typically interrupted by the app itself notifying a new challenge). Someone should suffer; as I have in challenges before. OTOH I've also been able to flukily replenish the timer on my end.

from what has happened to me it simply either delays the challenge or pauses it so then you can take the call and then continue from where you left off

well I just pressed the home button on the last question (I was leading 4:2) and immediately tapped back on sololearn where the point had been lost. Obviously I can't set up a call in such rare situations, but it would seem that the receiver would default.
