Do I have to learn JS for this “Goal”? What else do I need?

Is it possible or even better to use a general purpose language instead of JS in the web development? Like(HTML —> CSS —> other language instead of JS here) I’m trying to learn few languages if possible as I already know C so I’m thinking C++ and now I’m learning HTML and next I want to go to CSS and PHP (What more do I need? Does that depend on the server? the OS?)

So am I on the correct path if I want to make a functional app and/or website like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat...? Or do I need SQL, MYSQL, NOSQL?

thank you, i needed this :) I will learn JS and go through each of these topics (that some of them i dont know what they mean :D ) step by step :)

JavaScript is a general-purpose programming language. That can be used for frontend, backend, mobile app, pwa, desktop apps etc. If you want to be a full stack developer, JavaScript is the surest path to follow. However if you have to make an application that stores data in a database, SQL is an additional skill to learn.
