Kali linux is better than windows?

Kali Linux is for pentesting purpose. It might be hard work to have it as a main OS. Why? if you would like know more ask.
If that is a beginning with Linux for you I recommend different distro like OpenSuse,UBUNTU,Fedora,Debian,Mint
Personally I would go with Ubuntu as a first touch with Linux operation system.

No a bad approach you need view both like tools, no point on compare a cooking pot with a knife. of course they serve to cook but never compare the tools. Just carries the right tool.

It depends on user and usage. For example Linux is not ment for gaming, windows is imho not that good for development. What do you want to use it for?
