What is the differance bet. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP or ASP.NET, and XML?

HTML: The structure and layout of content you see on your browser.

CSS: Makes the web sites beautiful and modern looking.

JavaScript: Client side programming lang. which runs in your browser. Adding calculations, logical conditions to your browser.

PHP or ASP.Net: Server side programming lang., doesn't run on your browser. It runs on the web server. PHP runs mainly on Linux based servers while ASP.NET runs on Windows based servers.

XML: Used mainly as a platform/lang. independent text data transfer.

Not quite. Java is good for server side development, php can run on Windows with no problems and so on. But the idea is right.
