Should I learn C language in 2020

I personally have nothing against C as a language. It does require relatively more effort for me to deal with strings as char arrays and having to refresh my brain with pointers after a long period of being away from it.

That said, I don't particularly enjoy writing C code. I find it dry, stale, and slow to be productive. It could be that I've never had a need to use C professionally and therefore never developed a workflow to be more efficient.

Maybe, I'm just too spoiled by the productivity and expressiveness of C#, Javascript, Kotlin, Elixir, or Ruby to want to work with C. I'd probably prefer Rust or Go over C.

While I get why veteran C developers promote the language, I'm honestly surprised by how much the new generation of learners also advocate for learning C as a core language over all others.

I simply don't get it. 🤷‍♂️

That said... I also have zero desire to do development for embedded devices or device drivers and such.

But... hey, I might just be the odd ball here. 😉

Every language is great itself. But It totally depends upon your choice that in which type of projects do you wanna work. If you wanna learn the technologies from deep, then you must use this language.

Absolutely. C is still heavily used in embedded systems, IoT applications and OS development, and remains versatile for a variety of other uses. It is also the basis of some other higher level programming languages like Python.
