Is it possible to get wifi's password in hash format?

Question

I know that it isnt possible to get password of wifi directly. The password is hashed and stored in router. Every time user connects with a password, user's password is hashed and router checks if they are same.

But my pc doesnt have a wifi adapter. I thought if it will be possible to get the hashed password using my phone( or anything else that i have has wifi) and copy it to my computer and then crack it there.

Please help me, also post if you have any related ideas or articles.

Steve Sajeev You need to do some things first

1) You need to root your phone

2) Download Termux

3) Now you are good to go

4) First donwload aircrack-ng suit in Termux by typing "pkg install aircrack-ng"

5) now type "iwconfig" and check the internal adapter now you need to enable monitor mode with airmon-ng or manually (search for how to enable monitor mode in wifi adapter)

6) Now you have done the lab setup now you can hack wifi with wifite or any other automated script

You need to do some studying. The entire reason to root device is so you can interact fully with the linux system underneath the android os and run all commands. Android is like a Linux distro with no balls. (wont let you do anything fun) when you root, you have full access to your device... but so does anyone who can connect ;) so just know what you're doing

Steve Sajeev ya rooting can cause some problems like we loose our phones warranty and if you make some mistake in the process the device will get brick

How you are going to put smart phone's adapter to moniter mode. It is not supported.
And you also require packet injection for deauth attack and which is also not supported in smart phones

Shail Murtaza There are some devices with internal adapters supporting monitor mode so you can try to check with that or you can go with TP TLWN722N which support monitor mode and I also personally use this one

Not a specific one, i wanted to learn more about it.

Wpa2 is much harder, so i am focussing on wpa and wep.
It would be good if it is wpa2

Then no luck for you. Get it rooted before you even think about doing anything out of the ordinary with your phone. Just be safe

Steve Sajeev Rooting your device has a slight chance of bricking it, but a very small one. It should be safe.

If the router or phone OS firmware hasn't been updated before 2019 all wifi is crakcable except Enterprise versions and WPA3.
the KRACKen exploit can be very serious if you know what you are doing with wireshark and aircrack.
Alwaya update your router after backing it up. as for phones tread lightly on updates since they are usally designed to slow your phone down. Linux has the least exploits even after the heartbleed SSL/Tls Exploit for passwords being seen in plaintext. Linux only had around 14 versions of their OS and or versions of an OS that weren't patched compared Windows, Apple and their versions.
