Please i need a broad explanation on the meaning of <!--comments-->

Question

Please what does it serve as when you put it what will happen and as i can see its not even visual but anytime i put it i don't know what will happen i even thought that after it if i put a comment button someone can comment there please help out

Advantages for writing comments in code :-
the well commented functions/logics are helpful to other programmers to understand the code better. They can easily understand the logic behind solving any problem. If you see/edit codelater, comments may help you to memorize your logic that you have written while writing that code.
