With PHP you can create HTML content dynamicly with almost all the time, a connection to a database.
In short:
No need to write:

<div></div>

You create a model and you ask PHP to repeat it X times and to change tag contents with a database content.

Important, PHP is a language read by the server side at the opposite of javascript/jQuery read by the visitor web browser.
