Should I learn basics of JavaScript to understand API or should I learn it after completing HTML???

I was learning API in HTML and it suggested me to learn the basics of JavaScript so should I learn that JavaScript or I skip it to learn after HTML.

For understanding some parts (like Canvas, Geolocation, web storage etc.) of HTML course you need to understand JS.

I'll suggest you to learn a bit of JS before you learn these topics in HTML course.
