letter counter

Question

here is my code,what should i do that if a letter doesn't exist in the input word,my code instead of showing that chracter count is zero, just skip it.

I don't know how to do it with python but try doing this in python:
Go through the string/list from 0 to string/list size. Count all occurances of the index you are at(0,1,2...size - 1) and delete all occurances but first occurance.
