What exactly is /r?

I'm very new to Python and just got to the special characters lesson and was curious about /r.

/r is a carriage return but what does that mean?

It is equivalent to pressing the Home key in a word processor. The cursor is positioned at the far left. It's like pressing the left arrow key until the cursor is at the fare left (without going to the next line)
