What to do if someone copied our code(s)?

Thanks to @Gami for notifying me that my jokes code is copied. That code has my name written all over it (literally) - it's exactly copied. And, the copied code is on the top of the original code in Trending. I don't know what to do now. Should I report or downvote or do something else? These are the original and copied codes. https://code.sololearn.com/W9RRiya4cPGu/?ref=app https://code.sololearn.com/W68uTAmDwTOV/?ref=app

@Krishna SoloLearn did reply my emails on this. Moderators get the benefit of doubt in these situations. If your code is copied, and you feel your rights are violated, just report them. This is EXACTLY why the report feature exists - Nobody should even feel that their rights are violated here, and everybody is entitled to report what bothers them. Don't worry about wrongly reporting someone - There's a safe lock in the trigger which unlocks only if the person if found to be guilty of something. If I did not make myself clear - SoloLearn administrators told us to report codes which are stolen by other users. Period.

Ok so I am new to the thread.. But i observed something. The codes which he has copied eg:- Hangman and Find the day you were born, contains the information about the creator. The name of the coder is written on top which indicates that he copied the full code so.. the point of giving credits to the creator is out of the discussion as I dont think Krishna sir wrote his name on the top of his code(which is completely fine but in his defence the point of giving credit is not valid) On the other side.. I too am having problem with him making the code *public* which shouldn't be done as you can use it for personal references only. There are people like this who steal the codes and edit the name 😶😑😑 https://code.sololearn.com/cI1TfrBr3cXo/?ref=app And also some who give credit to the original creator😶 https://code.sololearn.com/cJ5Ug9l0Azbv/?ref=app But in both the cases making it public is unacceptable So instead of reporting it maybe first we should ask him to make it private.. As @Agus Mei did. (Sorry for the long boring answer ~_~)

@Meharban No, I think it's ok to copy if you don't publish them. And for me it's even ok to publish them if you give credits to the author.

SoloLearn definitely needs to look into this issue. Hopefully the copy feature will display the author's credentials by default soon. People shouldn't be credited and awarded for plagiarism.

The best way is to report this to Sololearn. Downvoting does nothing, and you just post a comment on their code about their plagiarism!

We can't be sure if this guy is copying deliberately or is simply unfamiliar with how C.Playground save code works. I've posted a query for the guy to credit Krishna. If he doesn't respond, my report will come next.

I leave a comment and ask them to credit the author... But I don't do that for codes which are stolen from me. My codes are so simple that everyone can do it, so it's not worth to force them to credit me ^^ E.g. search for LogicalOperators (10 copies with exactly the same name): https://code.sololearn.com/cnMMk8BODddd/?ref=app

@Agus I perfectly understand it was @Krishna's code that was copied, he posted this thread, obviously. I guess it's a matter of perspective, I knew from the very beginning that Sololearn is open source and all the code I write in here could be copied/stolen and it didn't bother me. I accepted this policy, I never came here to show off my work but rather to share, to teach the little I know and learn as much as possible. Actually, @Cole used one of my codes as part of his and I felt flattered and I even encouraged him to get creative and tweak it even more.

@cole i think u should stop.. relax. you've made your point a while ago. i actually understand and agree with the gist of your argument, however, the more you Rant & Rave.. lets just say that you are not helping your case at all. Your logic has deteriorated. Now you're just yelling and calling people Names unjustly. You are taking this issue Much Too Seriously and as a result the Good Feelings that was just Thriving in our Community seems to have morphed into something else. Like i said earlier, i agree you, or i should say i agree with @PaolaM, i like the way she put it. You lost my support when you started cutting down the 'other side', something like they don't Understand the Issue cause they are just Kids! I think they understand how they feel, they identified a problem and working on Resolution. We need to remember that we are just Guests here, that's how i feel, we can make suggestions but we cannot Force our Ideas on their Administration of soloLearn. The Young Students are the Majority and they have the Greatest Influence in Changing Administration Policies. We need to support our Community. The Debate is over. Both sides of the Issue was made clear. The End.

@Agus Plagiarists only gain lies. Because they're lying to themselves and will never be capable of creating great things. That is something external to us and we have no control over it. You could choose to feel angry or proud for being copied. But the truth is this is a game, there is always going to be people who want to cheat on games, he's copying codes to win badges and XP, so what? it has nothing to do with his real programming skills. Yesterday I saw a user named "bOt (wilL alWays sCore zerO)" and it is literally losing all challenges on purpose. I believe someone created this fake account to earn easy XP points. See? There's always someone trying to cheat. Just don't feel bad for being copied, after all, this is a learning platform, you are supposed to contribute with your code so others can learn and build upon it. If you don't want to be copied then upload your code somewhere else and post a thread sharing the output, if you will.

@Cole You seem to have this obnoxious habit of taking other people's words and twist then to suit your ideology. Mei never said that nothing bad will happen if we band together. Bad things will still happen - The point is it's easier to settle things when we have a common stand. That itself is a great change. I don't really get why you have a problem with that. Life is unfair only if you conform to low standards that people should bow to unfavorable norms. This is not the case here.

There should be a system so that we can copy codes to learn from them but cannot publish them
