Wow. That is curiously spot on.

Unfortunately, I can't read the full text unless I sign in to ieee which requires a paid account.

The Abstract only says stuff like, "The use of gamification in an e-learning system has been shown to have a positive impact on motivation and learning achievement.", but doesn't say what "has been shown" means.

I would also like to read a critical investigation of gamification in Sololearn (and generally), especially the darker aspects, such as the intentionally addictive elements and the pay-to-win elements.
