There's this other name for programmers, called "problem-solvers". So yeah, you get the gist of what I'm trying to say. Programmers don't necessarily need to be in front of a comp with their hands on the keyboard to change the world. It's not always about accomplishment, wealth, and power. There are finer things in life. ;>

Back then in ancient times, before electronics exist, there were also people who play the role as counterparts to modern world "programmers". They are called a lot of different names, and they invented, innovated, explored, worked, calculated, formulated, strategized, and planned stuff, all of which resulted in world order.

Programmers have always run the world behind the scenes, while "rulers" and politicians do the work in front.

If you mean the kids with the anonymous avatar that uses software provided by internet, no... i don't think.

Otherwise, maybe... but i think that a person should use their knowledges for "change the world", not just for fun.

So... the tecnologies are the best way to give information, the informations are dangerous weapons.

In short: Yes, if the informations was used for "noble purposes", yes, but most of hackers don't think, most of hackers don't care anything about economy, population and others things that they uses only for justify their actions, there is nothing of ethical to damage other people, most of hackers, simply... are not hackers, but person with more informations and less brain.
