Is learning programming languages is the first step to hacking???
Earlier I was wanting to become a hacker... After learning hacking from many different websites and many referred books I came to a conclusion that to become a hacker the first thing we require is the knowledge of programming languages. So I started learning programming language Learning sololearn I became a web developer. But in this post my main question is learning programming languages is the first step to hacking??? I would like to know everyone's answer................

@Maz I still think there's a reason why SL introduced programming languages prior to those concepts. A lot of successful hackers (not that I know of) began exactly like all the other learners here, learning how to write their first "Hello World" code before anything else. I wouldn't say that learning ALL the programming languages is the first step, but the concept of how code works to create a process (program), that is pretty essential to understanding what a framework is.

@Maz But yes, I can see why you are correct to a certain extend. :>
It's either code -> concept -> algorithm,
or concept -> algorithm -> code.

Mh, i don't agree with @Hatsy.
Do you know anything about Metasploit?
Frameworks? Exploit? IP spoofing? Man in the middle? Local and Remote spoofing?
If you know all, yes... maybe you have to learn a programming language and begin to write your programs!
- Hackers can use programs provided by internet, but... in most cases, they write their programs for a specific vulnerability -
Your questions is: "Learning Programming Language is the first step?"
And my answer is: No, first of all, you have to learn something about frameworks, bruteforce, exploit, vulnerability and so on... then, you can learn some programming language.
Now your question will be: "Okay Maz, what programming language should i learn".

@Maz Simple question: Is it compulsory to learn all those mentioned prior to programming languages? Is there a problem if learning how to code came first instead?
All of what you mentioned require at least a little programming knowledge to even begin with.

Yes.

@Hatsy it's right!
I ever prefered concept -> algorithm -> code, maybe i am a theoric person. ~_^

I think you guys can go either way.

@Hatsy no, it is not necessary... but learn something about frameworks and Open-Source is better than learning Python without any knowledge.
Why? Because if i want to learn Python and i have some knowledge about hacking, i know what i want to do, i know how works the frameworks and i can read the source code of them.

@mod 807
Don't worry, i know what is a white or a black hacker, i don't need of your lesson =^=
If you want to become a white/red/black/rainbow hacker, in every case... you have to learn "hacking", doesn't matter the type of hackers. ^_^

I wasn't telling it u
I was telling this to Kreig7

Doesn't matter
For now I am a web developer not a hacker
;)

Look everyone has different point of views so lets not fight over wether you need to learnprogramming language to be a hacker.

what
+ 8
@Maz IT also depends on what type of hacker u want to become
whether u want to become white hat hacker,red hat hacker, black hat hacker or any else...

Don't u know about black hat hackers and white hat hackers

White hat hackers :-
A white hat hacker is a computer security specialist who breaks into protected systems and networks to test and asses their security. White hat hackers use their skills to improve security by exposing vulnerabilities before malicious hackers (known as black hat hackers) can detect and exploit them.
Black hat hackers:-
A black hat hacker is an individual with extensive computer knowledge whose purpose is to breach or bypass internet security. Black hat hackers are also known as crackers or dark-side hackers. The general view is that, whilehackers build things, crackers break things.

There other many types of hackers

By the way who was fighting here
