You have an array of options. As a game developer I started out with java without the help of any game engine or API. Although it was really fun having full control over your game it was very tasking. I adopted Unity Engine which is currently the best engine by today's Industry standards. My advice is if you're serious about game development start out with unity without wasting any time. It offers an option of using JavaScript, C# which is very similar to java, and Boo which no one really cares much about. It will be much easier than using Android studio
