Can someone explain what exactly is the point of having a title at all?

Let's assume you have a website about skating. You could have the title tag say "Skateboards" or something, or have, skateboardwebsitething.html as the tab name. It make your website look allow more professional and allows people to not have to click into that tab to see what it is.
