Does this IQ thing works in the programing? Can having a higher IQ makes it easy for one to learn programming?

I don't know what is my IQ ratings, I was wondering if one need to consider checking his IQ to determine how far am I capable to go with programming career.

Serious IQ measure is done with very much than just logical test, by authorized psychologist ( vocabulary topics are a lot present for example )... In the other hand, self passed IQ tests findable on internet are essentially based on logical tests and are not serious at all ( ugly or not calibrated )... Anyway, high IQ people are not necessarly comfortable with mathematics and/or logical things ^^ : IQ measure more a potential than an absolute capacity, and indicate more a different manner of thinking than an higher quantitative intelligence but also qualitative one ( high IQs do not reason like the others, they show a different cognitive functioning, with especially a development of abstract thinking ). So, learn anything could be more easier ( not specifically programming, and not particularly related to logical skills ) as it can stay hard if subject don't inspire you for any reasons ( curiosity is essential in any skill acquisition, probably all the more for high IQ peoples ;) )

Do you know the name of the IQ test you've passed? I guess that it's the Cattell test ( CFIT -- Culture Fair Intelligence Test ), in group, which seems to be mainly composed by non-verbal visual tests... Unlike the most widely used individual tests, such as the WISC/WAIS ( Weschler Intelligence Scale for Childen / Adult Intelligence Scale ) which is the only one I really good know, as in France, the first Cattell isn't officially used/recognized at all to measure IQ except from non official group IQ test for admission in Mensa ( world high-IQ society ) because it's not completly free from the influence of culture and learning, where WISC/WAIS are calibrated according to each languages/culture, and passation condition let the professionel observation have some importance in the individual diagnose... while Mensa doesn't have exactly same purpose as medical scope. ( I'm not saying this doesn't have value, but that each different type of IQ classification can have some differences in their application field / validity scope, all the more than intelligence measure don't have an accurate commonly shared definition ;) ) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattell_Culture_Fair_III https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wechsler_Adult_Intelligence_Scale https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ_classification

IQ tests are not much an indication of intelligence - because you can be a genius and suck at taking IQ tests or be a moron but be good at solving puzzles. Personality tests taken on top of IQ tests might be more accurate.

Back in the day, while I was going to high school, we have done IQ test like you said (with authorized psychologist). I agree with everything you said, however most of the tasks were math and logical problems, and that's why I said this. However, it's also true that it can be different with different people no matter what their IQ is.

Iq is measured by tets mostly from logical puzzles and similar, as programming is depending a lot on your logical thinking, then you are sure in adventage.
