How does R compare with Python in machine learning? in terms of use and efficiency?

You won't get an unbiased answer to this one :)

Both languages utilize similar mechanisms for data processing, matrices/vectors calculations and data mining operations.

Both include more and more advanced libraries that enable you to redirect and/or multithread computation to GPUs or computer clusters to speed up your work. There are many comparisons showing an advantage of one over another and vice versa. I haven't seen any reliable and definite answer on this deadly rivarly yet, though ;)

Personally, I prefer Python over R, as I can get more flexibility with it, not purely statistics and data handling. But my colleagues managed to connect to a pizza delivery app's API with R and made a successful order, so... you never know :D

@Nelson Thank you for marking my answer as the best one, but it's just a joking, funny offtopic. I think @Kuba gave very cool answer (full if it can be full in this topic). If you don't mind I'd pass "the best answer" mark to him (and story about pizza ordered trough API with R is funny too!), ok?

Shawarma/shaurma (if I'm not mistaken how to write it's name in English) is convenient to consume while coding too. And pancakes. Stuffed pancakes. Or bureks/borecs. Or a pie. :-) We just need a "collection" (an array 😀) of nutrients wrapped in one "object" to not be distracted and to continue coding... and not be hungry! :-D
