@Millind: Notepad++ is only a Windows alternative... there's no Linux version ;)

Sublime is one of the good ones I am using sublime in windows once you save the file with extension, it is quite easy to edit file in the language

There are several out there. I use Brackets for most of my basic web development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS). There are plenty of plugins to go along with it for other languages as well. brackets.io

I would suggest you to try Atom (https://atom.io/) it's an open source code editor which has a lot of great features, Sublime text is good, but if you wanna have the full version you must pay $70 dlls, Brackets it`s also a good one, but I feel the most complete code editors are Atom or Sublime Text
