never liked that term.
Hackers are "bad" by definition - a hacker is a guy who steals information, mostly out of curiosity or to publish it as they don't believe any information should be secret.
Those using there skills to somehow make money or just for the fun of bringing chaos and destruction are just highly educated criminalls.
The so called "ethical hackers" are just programmers specialized in security, often they even have the actual sources of what they need to "hack" and study those for security breaches.
To finalize - yes it is good, but it is not hacking...

It's good for someone....
I know a student from IIT who got a job after hacking a well recognised website but this act wasn't ethical.

@Nikolay - no, hackers are not "bad by definition".

In fact, the term "hacker" originally referred to computer experts. I know that the term got a negative connotation due to mainstream media, but we should know better than that :)

As long as it's ethical, of course it's good (that's more or less what "ethical" means :) )

The exact same action can be ethical/good or unethical/bad - it depends on why you're doing it, and whether you have the owner's approval :)
