Why still some programmers prefer vi or vim?

I have seen many Unix/Linux programmers using vi for big as well as small files. Actually I don't understand why they don't like to use new code editors like visual studio code, Atom, sublime text, etc.....
and which code editor(s) do you prefer. And why?

I prefer brackets as it is very much easy to code in it and you can preview your code without using any browser . you can make project of all languages like ruby , Web , java and much more. you can download it from www.brackets.io

Firt time you uses vim, the modes could be a little confusing, but after learning how it works vim becomes extremely powerful. With few fast keystrokes you could manipulate text in sophisticated ways. Vim has a lot of plugings supported by a big community. Vim could be used in several context, not only programming.

Because vim is light , powerfull and customizable
