Java or Kotlin?

Hello everyone. I was wondering if I should firstly improve my knowledge about Java or try to learn Kotlin from the beginning? Does Kotlin have good chance to replace Java in the future?

Even if such a big companies like Google are changing to Kotlin? I began to learn Java but was only wondering :) Thank you for your opinion

Maybe I'm too late to save you, two years after, but Java is the worst language, especially now with languages like Python, Ruby, and Kotlin around. The Java API is terrible.
