Is Java truly a Linux programming language?

I got confused recently with Java independence with different OS platform. Along the way i got to know that linux OS doesn't require a JVM to run. I'm I right?

no you're wrong. jvm is needed to convert byte code to machine language. that means Java development can't be done without jvm. on the other hand the execution of Java file can be done without jvm

that's not a proper question. you can't associate any language with a whole range of operating system. Java is for everyone. it's not exclusive if that's what you're asking. and no, Linux wasn't written in Java if that's what you're asking. I'm not sure what you're asking

Great and reasonable answer to my question @Ajay. If you are acquaint with web hosting services you will accept with me that windows and Linux web hosting are different and there is cost disparity between the two. This is because the languages you use to write your webpages are different. For example, you can't install CMS (such as Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal) on Window web hosting basically because they are written with PHP. Also, you can't upload web pages written with asp.net on Linux hosting. Submission, C# is regarded as Microsoft language but can also be used to write any OS application. Similarly, Java is regarded has Linux programming language but can also be used to write any OS application. Apple has its own language too which i can't really remember now. I will be glad if you can do more research on it and get me a feedback here.
