Do you know a good Pokémon Battle API?

Question

I plan to create a Pokémon AI, but I really don't want to implement all the battle stuff by hand.
Does anyone of you know a good battle API that I can use?
I would prefer one in Java but other languages are okay as well.

Sadly I didn't manage to start until now. But I'll check out the pokemonshowdown server code on github first.
