Why is Lisp used so frequently with AI?

Lisp users seem to think that Lisp is the best for almost everything, especially AI. Why this do they have this attitude toward Lisp's usage in AI? Is it more proficient in AI?

I think python is used more in AI nowadays.

lisp is known to be good for ai because it can self modify code... and also it was designed with ai in mind
