You already have the equation. H2 + Cl2 -> 2HCl mole = mass/(molar mass) One mole of H2 can react with one mole of Cl2 to produce two moles of HCl. Information given: 5 gram of H2. Chlorine given in excess, so it's not a limiting factor. mole of H2 = 5/2 mole of HCl produced = 2 * 5/2 = 5 mass of HCl produced = 5 * molar mass of HCl = 5 * (1+35.5) ≈ 182.5g
