Should i scrap ruby?

Question

Im new to coding and dad told me to learn ruby first because its the easiest and he is afraid id give up if it gets too hard and Ive learnt the absolute basics of it and many people have told me to scrap it and learn python instead.
Thoughts?

(I have also read alot of hacking but i havent tried anything yet and Ive heard that python is more commonly used for it)

It wil be good to know at least a basic syntax of both (they are both easy) and for programming select with suits you better. Python is used more widely, but there are some large projects that use ruby (like Metasploit). Both have advanteges and disadvanteges.
