How does data and information differ?

processed data is information ,

"thanh likes to eat mango" ---this is information

Well data are objective description of the reality. But to get information you need to process the data through, e. g. information system. As a manager if you will have in your database sales data it will tell you nothing and give you nothing. You wanna know which goods sell the most which sell the least. You wanna monthly averages etc. those are valuable informations.
