For web apps I would recommend PHP or Ruby.

i will recommend to learn Javascript in depth because it has lot to do with. If you are intrested in Front end start Angular.JS a framework of javascript developed by google also React.JS developed by Facebook.

For back end Node.JS framework of javascript it is better in performance etc.

For desktop application JavaScript has Electron framework to build cross platform applications.
