What would be considered an HTML5 game?

My question here is.. What would be considered an HTML5 game? Does creating an HTML5 Game require you to use the Canvas Element to be considered an HTML5 game? Or could you simple write a game using Html Elements and some Javascript code.. Would that just be considered an Html game? Please Leave your opinions..

I know but i was asking if its still considered an HTML5 game written like that? I have a game in the making sort of like the space game on the trending codes section where you dodge the missiles.. But im not using Canvas so thought id ask if it would still be considered an HTML5 Game or just an Html game..
