Both superscript and subscript letters are a little smaller than normal ones. The superscript are raised up higher and the subscript are dropped down lower. Run this code to see in practice.

To help you remember, look at the tummy part of the 3rd letter from "superscript" and "subscript":

superscript => "p" tummy is on top
subscript => "b" tummy is at bottom

Superscript makes the text appear smaller on top of normal text, subscript makes the text smaller at bottom :)
