but without AC we would all have powerstations on our street. but yes. not really a contribution to computers.

@Saksham Saxena, actually the electronic parts of the computer are powered by DC (Direct Current).

The power box in the computer, converts the AC (~50/60 Hz 110/220 V) into DC +/- 12V, then the DC electricity is driven to the motherboard.
