You're very optimistic. I don't have high expectations for our species' ability to not destroy ourselves and others within that amount of time. Most humans can't even control themselves if their football team loses, so just imagine a real world disaster happening or another world war with the technology we have now?
This isn't the old days. The amount of technological progression that can take place in that amount of time is insane. Just in another 10 years our progression will be great. In the past it'd take hundreds of years to progress things significantly. Today? Things progress significantly in a very short amount of time. Technology progresses quicker with the more technology you obtain.
Unfortunate side of technology is its duality. You can use nuclear power for amazing energy needs, and you can also use it to destroy the world. As they say, you can cook a man's dinner with electricity, and you can also cook the man.
So, we'll see how it goes. Hopefully history isn't an indicator of anything at all.
