What to do if you had a long break from programming? Where to start?

Start by making an application or something to see how much you remember. Practice/Relearn those you think you are not sure of.

if u mean years , well then start with the language you was familiar with

Take the book/website you used to study and go through it again. This time it will take much less. I went through the entire Python course in a couple of days. It took me 2 months the first time.
