Not really. A *proficient* knowledge of one and a good understanding of programming concepts should get you started easily and let you switch to another language to the extent you might need.

I think it would be pretty useful to be able to read and understand other people's code even if your own specialty is different.You're able to find new ways of thinking that could make your own coding better.
