IN C++:
There is no (standard) cross-platform way to do this. On windows, try using conio.h. It has the:

textcolor(); //
and textbackground();

functions
. For example:
textcolor(RED);
cprintf("H");
textcolor(BLUE);
cprintf("e");
// and so on.
