Getting started, first project and possibly finding a mentor?

Hello, My name is Rodney. I have been using Sololearn on and off since early 2016. Currently in the process of re-completing CSS then the JS courses. I certainly need to refresh what I had learned. This time around I will be attempting my first project as I learn. The initial goal is to have these projects listed in my portfolio so I can begin applying for jobs in the near future. I am basically doing freelance work for my uncle. He competes in "Tractor pulls" at local fairs and has a lot of fun doing it. My idea is to create a fan page for him. Nothing spectacular. Simple home page with about, schedule of events, build specs and a contact section/link. I also intend to pay for web hosting services and domain registration. I'm planning to use VS studio to start, my main question here is what would be the best way of finding a mentor? Sololearn is great for what it offers, but I'm hoping someone can recommend a discord server. Thanks for reading :)

Hi Rodney, I think the best way of learning code is to build things so having this project for your uncle is certainly a good thing for you. Regarding the mentor, you can pay for help using sites like codementor.io but I've never used it so not sure on the pricing structures they have. I would be happy to help mentor you if you wanted? I work as a web developer during the day but always have my email open and im always working on code during the evenings so you won't have to wait long for a response from me. Let me know your thoughts.
