Do we really need the AI now?

Every geek dreems of a machine with a human (or even better) level of comprehension, but with the incredible computing power. If we manage to control it, the AI will bring us to the heights that we would hardly reach without it. But the question is: do we need it now as we have no idea of how to control and suppress it. Should we rush it and just fall into it or we need to take some time and study this issue more?

I guess when it comes to technology it is more common for us (humans) to try it first, or at least desire to try it, it's almost like a nature for people to always try something new first, then during the try-outs we may find faults, could be minor or major, harmless or severe, then the developers patch it, roll it out for people to try (again), and it goes around in circles. We may not need it, but these days, people are more into what they want opposed to what they need right? and we enjoy to see how our daily chores are taken care of by smart things, it's great to be able to go lazy having them around ^_^

You're right mate, however we all are aware we can never make a perfect product, knowing we (humans) are indeed imperfect, and we can try to think of any risks we could imagine, and implement prevention measures best we can, yet still something can happen, there is no 100% guarantee we can prevent everything ^_^

I agree, but when it comes to AI any mistake can result in a real disaster. It's like with nuclear weapon but a lot worse. So we should ask "How can we prevent a mistake" instead of "how can we correct a mistake"
