If I made my old codes public you could've seen how I have changed, I'll be honest, I just copy pasted some stuff but few months later I realised and deleted them, I started being more original.

I would suggest you to start with some course on algorithms.

There is a introduction to python course in edx.org. It's free go check it out.....You can also opt for a paid certificate.....The course is conducted by MIT.

For basics you don't need anything but for higher level puzzles on hackerrank, you need mathematical knowledge. I wouldn't recommend just going in there without knowing algorithms. Though there maybe around 20-40 puzzles which are easy level.

Sololearn itself has some things like challenges for you to practice. There are also websites like URI, FreeCodeCamp, etc where you get some common exercises and practice. I recommend following a book to not get lost too
