a variable is an value that is not fixed that can be replaced just like the name suggest
we can compare a variable with a drawer you can put something there then you can take it off and put something new in their place.

following the analogy with strongly typed languages... the drawer should only hold objects of one type; if its a drawer of books, you can only place books, not any other thing
