In 3.4e-38 what is meant by 'e'?

Not in C language but everywhere e means this: For simple case:- 2e5 It means, 2 × 10 ^ 5 So, you can say that, e means × 10 ^ In your case, it means, 3.4 × 10 ^ -38 Note: Just to make clear, ^ is used to raise any number to the given power, like 2 ^ 3 = 2 × 2 × 2 = 8
