What should I do to understand java fully and how to apply it into my real life projects

I'm passionate about app development so I decided to take java as my first course at #sololearn. Everything went well with me at first when I wrote my first code in Java but the knowledge I have gained seems like I can't go anywher. Please help what should I do to understand java fully and how to apply my skills to real life projects.

Learning the basics here is great but after that you will need android studio to progress further as java is limited in sololearn it doesnt support a gui.
